SCFC FCI Research Symposium, Brazil 2025

As SCF Community, we are collaborating with FCI to jointly host the SCFC FCI Research Symposium at the 57th Annual Meeting of FCI in Brazil on the topic ofShaping the Future of SCF: Resilience, Innovation, and Impact. FCI is the Global Representative Body for Factoring and Financing of Open Account Domestic and International Trade Receivables.

The Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to network and discuss current issues within the Factoring and Receivables Finance Industry. The Meeting will feature insightful presentations by international industry pioneers, in-depth panel discussions on a range of topics by leading industry professionals, and global and regional statistic updates. In addition, the Meeting is well known for its plentiful networking opportunities, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will provide a backdrop for all of these networking sessions while providing some incredible sightseeing.

The upcoming Research Symposium at the FCI Annual Meeting in Brazil will centre on Financing the Supply Chain, offering a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge research and ideas. The program will include a keynote address and presentations from representatives of the SCF Community, with a focus on timely and relevant topics such as Deep-tier Finance, Disclosure and Regulations, Evolving trends in Supply Chain Management, and the Role of Critical Raw Materials.

This event presents a valuable opportunity for academics and professionals alike to share their expertise, gain insights, and connect with peers across disciplines. The SCF Community is excited to partner with FCI at the Annual Meeting to provide a space for new and innovative research in the fields of supply chain management and supply chain finance to be shared. Speakers

Michiel Steeman

Michiel Steeman was selected in 2013 as the inaugural holder of the Supply Chain Finance Professorship at the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. He is also the founder and former chairman of the Supply Chain Finance Community that has already brought together over 30 leading business schools from more than 20 countries around the world who actively collaborate with companies, banks and governments in the developing field of Supply Chain Finance.

Rea Bosco Vaz

Rea Bosco Vaz is the Head of Product and Market for the SCF Community and a researcher at the Faculty of Supply Chain Finance at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, in the Netherlands. Her research currently focuses on combining the fields of geosciences and SCF through the subject of critical raw materials (CRM). Rea also works for the SCF Community on events, marketing and as a liaison to finance and tech providers in the SCF industry.

Luca Gelsomino

Luca Gelsomino is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen and the Academic Director of the SCF Community. In this role, he oversees the Community’s research projects, international network and publication strategy.

His teaching interests include supply chain management, financial analysis and Supply Chain Finance. He holds a Ph.D. with merit from the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano (Italy), on the topic of measuring the financial performance of supply chains. While working for the School of Management, he directed the School’s permanent research program on Supply Chain Finance. His research focuses on the relationship between physical and financial supply chains.
