SCF Corporate Event Netherlands

In our current ever-changing world, it is imperative to integrate and collaborate across procurement, supply chain and finance. Join us as we get together to learn about how corporates integrate Supply Chain and Finance to tackle sustainability and resilience challenges in their global supply chains. During our event at Utrecht University, Samuele Murtinu, Professor of International Business at Utrecht University, will deliver the keynote speech. We will delve into discussions about how corporates like Vattenfall, Hilti and Volvo Cars are navigating these volatile times. Bart Ras and Michiel Steeman will be moderating a workshop on Carbon Financing. Research insights will be presented by Luca Gelsomino and Federico Caniato. You will also have a chance to network with fellow professionals.

Speakers

Luca Gelsomino

Luca Gelsomino is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen and the Academic Director of the SCF Community. In this role, he oversees the Community’s research projects, international network and publication strategy.

His teaching interests include supply chain management, financial analysis and Supply Chain Finance. He holds a Ph.D. with merit from the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano (Italy), on the topic of measuring the financial performance of supply chains. While working for the School of Management, he directed the School’s permanent research program on Supply Chain Finance. His research focuses on the relationship between physical and financial supply chains.

Michiel Deurwaarder

Michiel Deurwaarder is Vattenfall’s leading finance procurement specialist and is the driving force in the roll out and expansion of the company’s successful supply chain finance program. Previous to that he has initiated and executed the sale of underperforming receivables in Vattenfall’s core countries.

Michiel holds an MSc from the Vrije Universities of Amsterdam’s School of Business and Economics and combines extensive experience in procurement of financial and marketing services with senior marketing roles in B2B and B2C marketing for blue chip brands such as PWC and KLM.

He is a strong believer in keeping things simple, an ambition that he advocates at supplier meetings, but also in discussions on themes such as legal payment term reductions.

Fabrizio Pallini

Fabrizio Pallini is the Credit manager for Italy and the countries of the E4 Region of the Hilti Group, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the most important Credit Management Association in Italy (ACMI) which represents over 700 companies in all product sectors. In his long career he has also held roles in the commercial and retail sector for many years and this allows him to have a vision of credit also from the perspective of the market and customer satisfaction. Personally and as a member of ACMI, he pursues the enhancement of the role and the development of career plans that pass through experience in Credit Management.

Patrik Marklund

Patrik is the Head of Trade Finance and Working Capital Solutions at Volvo Cars with +25 years of experience from automotive business and the last 9 years at Group Treasury developing working capital solutions.

Samuele Murtinu

Samuele Murtinu is Chair Full Professor of International Business and Head of the Entrepreneurship Section at the Utrecht University School of Economics. His research interests are at the crossroads of international economics & business, technology & innovation, and corporate governance. His research has appeared in leading journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Economics & Management Strategy, Journal of Business Venturing, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Research Methods, and Research Policy. His research won several prizes, including the 2019 CEIBS Cathay Cross-border Private Equity Research Program, and the Temple/AIB Best Paper Award in 2017. He is a special issue editor and editorial board member in several journals. He acted as an independent evaluator for the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, several governmental agencies, universities, private organizations, and industry associations. Professor Murtinu has a Ph.D. from Politecnico di Milano.

Michiel Steeman

Michiel Steeman was selected in 2013 as the inaugural holder of the Supply Chain Finance Professorship at the Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. He is also the founder and former chairman of the Supply Chain Finance Community that has already brought together over 30 leading business schools from more than 20 countries around the world who actively collaborate with companies, banks and governments in the developing field of Supply Chain Finance.

Bart Ras

Bart is passionate about bringing a unique entrepreneurial and globally-focused approach to the Carbon Credits markets, with a strong focus on attracting Capital Markets to the ESG asset class. With over 20 years of diverse experience in various environments and industries, he thrives on introducing innovative and non-traditional propositions to the marketplace.
His ultimate goal is to assemble, educate, and inspire like-minded individuals who are dedicated to understanding and facilitating the development of exponentially advancing improvements, aimed at addressing grand challenges. He firmly believes in contributing to ground-breaking solutions in his field of excellence, with a sharp focus on solving the world’s most pressing challenges.
Past experiences have enriched his journey significantly. He has had the privilege of working with reputable organizations such as HSBC, Citi Bank, Philips NV, ING Bank, and Pemberton Asset Management, where he held senior positions and contributed to strategic global business development initiatives.
Outside of the corporate world, he co-founded one of the Netherlands’ first internet companies in the 90s during my time with the Dutch rowing team. This experience instilled in him the spirit of entrepreneurship, and since then, he has been committed to making a positive impact on the world through sustainable and transformative solutions.

Federico Caniato

Federico Caniato is Full Professor of Supply Chain and Procurement Management at the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano. He earned a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Management Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He is the director of the International Master in Supply Chain and Procurement Management of Polimi Graduate School of Management. He is member of the board of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA). He authored several international publications on various Operations and Supply Chain Management journals, and he is Associate Editor of the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management.
